Amrita Chowdhury is Director, Gaia Smart Cities, an urban tech firm. Amrita is an Independent Director on the Board of Simmonds Marshall, an auto ancillaries firm, and is a member of the Audit and CSR Committees. She is also on the Board of Social sector startup Drishtant.
Amrita is a business strategist, engineer & innovator, and brings high-energy leadership to the businesses and people she interfaces with. Amrita has previously led high velocity, early growth stage businesses as President of DY Works (part of Future Group), Country Head South Asia of Harlequin, and Associate Director Education, Harvard Business School.
She has worked in strategy consulting for many years - with AT Kearney in the US and Oppeus in Australia, where she advised Fortune 100 client on strategy, growth, and governance.
She started her career in innovation with Applied Materials in the US and holds 7 US patents for semiconductor manufacturing.
Amrita holds a B Tech degree from IIT Kanpur, an MS from UC Berkeley, and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University - Tepper Business School.
Amrita is passionate about content - spoken, written and visual. She has published two books of fiction and contributed to another. She is a frequent commentator on strategy, business, governance, and lifestyle issues.
